What is it?

It's like the nzbed extension for Firefox by Tiberious, but for Google Chrome. It has roughly the same functionality (it's currently beta, but working good), but is a little more focused on usability.

It uses the same server side backend as the Firefox extension.

Installation

You can get the most current release at http://php.xbe.ch/files/nzbed-chrome-082.crx.

Just click on the link above, Google Chrome will then ask you if you want to install it. Just hit "Continue" in the bottom browser bar.

Status

The extension has an auto update check, so (if) there will be any new releases, Chrome should notify you.. It is currently beta on version 0.8.2

Note that auto updating seems not to work on Chromium on Linux, at least not in Ubuntu.

Source

There is a github repository containing the full source, check http://github.com/nicedevil/nzbed-chrome. Remark: The github sources are not up-to-date! Didn't have the time to update them.. So don't rely on it..

Features/Handling

After installing the extension and visiting the report view (search) on Newzbin, you'll notice that the normally visible "Create report" form is hidden. This is a feature, not a bug - then normally you don't need the form until you autofill something..

You'll also notice that on the bottom left corner, there's a status bar indicating that the extension is present and active. Also, if you do something, you'll find user feedback there..

If you select any text, the autofill trigger will appear. This is actually a workaround, as the current Google Chrome extension API don't allow to manipulate the context menu..

If you click on that link, the autofill will be done (or tried)..

Notice: In contrast to the firefox extension, this one makes the create report form floating! Which means, no more endless scrolling to the form on top if you've selected files somewhere on the page! Very nice stuff ;)

Also, the extension remembers your scroll position! That means, if you've created a report and submit it, the page will be scrolln again to the exact position you were before you submitted your report. This reduces file searching and scrolling massively..
